Instructions
  1. Cut the beef into pieces the size of a small walnut (or slightly smaller).
  2. Cut the onion into rings.
  3. Grease a ceramic or glass baking dish (with a lid) with butter. (Do not use enameled dishes! I cook beef according to this recipe in a heat-resistant glass saucepan with a capacity of 2 liters. For the preparation of dishes, based on 1 kg of beef, a capacity of 2-2.5 liters is required). We put the meat and onion in a greased bowl, mix, close the lid and put it in a preheated 180 degree oven. You can forget about meat for two hours! But I still recommend an hour to look under the cover. And if some pieces of meat are not completely immersed in the released juice, help them – squeeze a little.
  4. In a glass of sour cream, add a teaspoon of ready-made mustard (I use Dijon, homemade) and a teaspoon of flour. Mix it.
  5. After the allotted two hours, add sour cream with mustard and flour to the meat, mix, add salt and pepper to taste, close the lid and send it to the oven for another half hour. And after half an hour, the most tender (and very tasty) beef under a stunningly delicious onion sauce is ready. Minimum effort for a very decent dish!
  6. Serve with any side dish. I really like mashed potatoes, but today we have rice on the menu.
