Instructions
  1. Prepare the barley. I proceed as follows. I wash the cereal, pour boiling water over it, wrap the pan with pearl barley in a large terry towel and leave it overnight. The next day or in the morning, before further cooking porridge, drain the water that has not soaked into the cereal. Usually there is very little of it left. The pearl barley is almost ready.
  2. I pour the pearl barley with boiling water again and cook over moderate heat without a lid. Stir occasionally so that the pearl barley does not burn. After 15-17 minutes, the porridge will be ready. The cooking time, of course, depends on the cereal itself. Sometimes you have to cook porridge for a couple of minutes longer. I will not say that this is the most correct and fastest cooking option. You have the right to have your own way.
  3. While the pearl barley is cooking, finely chop the onion and fry for a couple of minutes in vegetable oil.
  4. Add the pumpkin cut into small cubes to the onion. Fry the vegetables until soft. The weight of the peeled vegetables is indicated.
  5. Season the pumpkin with onion paprika, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt.
  6. Pearl barley is cooked.
  7. Put the pearl barley in a saucepan with vegetables, mix, try the dish with salt. Heat everything together for 2-3 minutes over moderate heat. You’re finished!
  8. Bon appetit.
