Sift the flour and baking powder. Add soda, salt, and sugar. Stir.
Melt the butter in a water bath.
Make a nice well in flour.
Add buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla.
Knead dough. The dough should be quite thick. Thicker than for pancakes.
