Poppy Seed Cookies with Orange Juice Recipe
Who doesn’t like poppy seed cakes? Probably like everyone else! I offer you a simple cookie with natural orange juice squeezed from an orange, without eggs, olive oil. We can say that it is not very nutritious, it will go well in the post. Crumbly, with poppy seeds, in general, very tasty. It flies “like seeds” from the table!

  1. To knead the dough, I will need orange juice, and I will squeeze it out of an orange using a simple device. You can squeeze with your hands. We will need 50 ml of juice.
  2. We prepare all the products for cookies. Their set is not so great!
  3. Pour the orange juice into the bowl where we will knead the dough. Add butter, sugar and whisk into a homogeneous mass.
  4. Mix flour with baking powder. I use baking powder with saffron. I just tried it, and it beautifully colors the dough with orange juice in a yellowish color. Sift the flour and add a pinch of salt. Knead the dough. First I kneaded the dough with a silicone spatula.
  5. Then she put the dough on the work surface, sprinkled with flour, and began to work with her hands. Roll the dough into a ball. It’s nice to work and it doesn’t stick to your hands.
  6. Prepare the filling for the cookies. Mix the poppy seeds with butter and vanilla sugar. I like to have a lot of poppy seeds in baking. You can take a smaller one, to taste.
  7. Cookies can be formed in different ways. I’ll cook two kinds. Just in the second form I will use pruning. Roll out 2/3 of the dough into a rectangle, the thickness of the dough is about 1 cm. Spread with poppy seed filling. Leave the filling a little more for 1/3 of the dough volume. Spread the filling around the perimeter of the rectangle with a silicone spatula.
  8. Roll into a roll and cut into cookies 1-1. 5 cm thick. from the edges, the sliced dough was sent to the remaining dough.
  9. We combine the second dough with poppy seeds and roll it out also with a rectangle, then roll it into a roll on both sides (you can see in the photo). Cut also 1-1. 5 cm thick.
  10. Preheat the oven to t-180 C. Place the cookies on a non-stick baking sheet or on baking paper. Put in the oven for 7-10 minutes. Cookies are baked very quickly, focus on your oven. It took me 10 minutes. Take out the cookies and put them on a platter. Let cool and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  11. That’s the kind of discord that cookies have. Cookies are very crumbly.
