Easter Pigtails Recipe
These pigtails are baked in Slovakia on Easter Monday. On this day, young guys poured water over the girls to cheerful songs and music and “beat” them with wicker willow rods. “shibak” or “korbach” is decorated with colorful ribbons. Girls treat boys with sweets, cookies and Easter braids.

  1. In 100 g of warm milk, add yeast, sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour. (take from the total amount) Put in a warm place to approach.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt and semolina. Then add the yeast and the remaining 60 g of milk. Mix it. Add rosemary, thyme and black pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, grind 2 yolks and melted (already cooled) butter. Mix with the dough.
  4. Knead a soft, non-sticky dough. Put the dough in a bowl, tighten with cling film and leave to come up for an hour.
  5. Lightly sprinkle the cutting board with flour. Roll out the dough into a 25×25 cm square.
  6. With a sharp knife or a pizza knife, cut the dough into 24 strips.
  7. Braid her hair. Everyone knows how to do it.
  8. Put the finished pigtails on the prepared baking sheet, cover with a towel and leave in a warm place for 5-6 minutes.
  9. Lightly whisk the protein. Lubricate the pigtails, sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake in a preheated oven at 190 *C for 20 minutes.
  10. Cool the finished braid on the grill.
  11. Decorate with ribbons and you will be able to welcome guests!
