Meat Bread “Mediterranean” Recipe
I like to bake meat bread, it’s delicious, nutritious and quite dietary. I want to eat something hot, I want to bake it on bread in the form of a sandwich. Today I want to offer a variant of meat bread, which was tasted in a mountain village in Crete. The recipe, of course, has changed. Original meatloaf of lamb, red onion and feta cheese, as well as pieces and leftovers of local bread… Well, what are they rich in, as they say. But you can not spread it on bread, it is a bright self-sufficient hearty meat dish, which is served accompanied by vegetables, herbs and … of course, olives.

  1. First you need to cook the rice, which should cool down.
  2. I prefer to cook in a slow cooker “rice and flakes” for 45 minutes. Let the rice cool down.
  3. Put the beef through a meat grinder.
  4. Add chilled rice and finely chopped green onions to the minced meat. To interfere.
  5. Add sliced feta, egg, tomato sauce (or grated tomato pulp), 1 tsp dry basil, season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Place the resulting mass in a rectangular baking dish covered with baking paper.
  7. Cut the tomato into thin slices, lay it on top of the minced meat, sprinkle with the remaining dry basil, sprinkle with olive oil.
  8. Cover the tomatoes with the edges of the parchment, put them in a preheated oven to 200 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. After half an hour, remove the parchment and continue baking.
  9. Serve as a main hot dish with vegetables. Enjoy your meal!
