Instructions
  1. We’ll be twisting a herring turban. Many people think that herring can only be salted. But both baked and fried herring are very tasty!
  2. Cut off the head, gut and carefully cut out the spine, leaving both fillets on the tail. Season the fish with salt and pepper.
  3. Finely chop the onion and garlic, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater. Fry the vegetables until soft.
  4. Grate the cheese and mix it with the cooled fried vegetables. I didn’t salt the vegetables because there is cheese in the filling.
  5. Place the filling on the herring fillet, lightly pressing it against the meat.
  6. Twist the herring turban and secure the edges with a toothpick. Sprinkle with vegetable oil. You need to unwind from one fillet, through the tail and finish with the second.
  7. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes. When serving, pour over the balsamic sauce. Decorate with greenery. Mashed potatoes can be served as a side dish. Enjoy your meal!
