I continue to introduce you to the Slovak national cuisine. Today they treat you to honey cakes, which are forbidden at Christmas. Fragrant, ruddy. They pack them in beautiful boxes and give them to friends and relatives. You can bake them in advance, the gingerbread is perfectly stored.
Heat the honey in a saucepan.
Add spices for gingerbread. I have a ready-made mixture of cinnamon, anise, nutmeg and star anise.
Add powdered sugar. Stir and remove from heat.
Add the butter. Stir until the butter has dissolved.
Leave to cool.
Add the egg. Stir with a whisk.
Mix flour, baking powder and lemon zest.
Add parts to the honey mixture and knead the dough.
Cover with plastic wrap and leave in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
In a separate bowl, mix all the ingredients for the filling
Sprinkle the cutting board well with flour.
Roll out half of the dough 5 mm high.
Cut out the circles with a mold or cup and put the diameter at your discretion on a prepared baking sheet (covered with baking paper).
On each circle, exactly in the middle, put half a teaspoon of filling.
Roll out the second half of the dough and cut out stars or snowflakes with a curly mold.
Carefully cover the filling with stars, lightly press the edges.
Brush with beaten egg, put a piece of walnut on top.
Bake in a preheated 180*C oven for 15 minutes.
