  1. First, let’s get busy with our filling, which will distinguish our pie from similar biscuits and sour cream. Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds, and peel and chop the nuts (I have almonds) with a blender.
  2. While the poppy spreads, absorbs water and calms down, prepare a sponge cake. Heat eggs with sugar in a water bath (slightly!, do not bring to a boil), stirring with a whisk.
  3. Now “whisk” the egg-sugar mixture with a mixer.
  4. Be sure to mix the flour with baking powder, sift it. Preferably twice, the first time in a cup, the second time – directly in the dough.
  5. Carefully beat sour cream into the egg mixture.
  6. And finally, gradually add flour, “folding”, achieving uniformity and a light delicate taste of the dough. That’s it, the dough is ready!
  7. Now divide it in half. Add the steamed poppy seeds to one part, and nuts to the other.
  8. Spread the dough and vigorously scroll the mold so that a hole forms in the middle of the dough.
  9. Next, in turn, bake two cakes. About 40 minutes each, then rinse and check the readiness of the pancakes. By the way, a baked biscuit springs well when you press it. Cool the cakes on the grill.
  10. While the cakes are baking, prepare the cream. Beat the butter with a mixer until fluffy and gradually add condensed milk, achieving a complete mixing of the ingredients. Whisk the cream and leave it in the refrigerator. I forgot the photo, sorry. Be sure to soak the cakes with a small amount of liqueur using a cooking brush.
  11. And we proceed to the solemn completion of our cake. Put the first cake in a split form and spread half of the cream on it. Repeat the same procedure with the second cake.
  12. Well, decorate as your imagination tells you! I have nuts and chocolate. The most difficult thing remains – to drive away the children and husbands and wait for the pie to ripen to the “final condition”, in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
