I’m talking about the lack of time during the holidays again. After the unsweetened “snails”, I suggest baking a quick strudel. Instead of crackers, which are usually added to the filling, I used crumbly couscous.
Pour 30 g of couscous into a small cup or bowl. Pour boiling water, cover for 5 minutes.
Peel the apples and pears from the middle.
Cut into pieces.
After 5 minutes, open the couscous and loosen with a fork. Sprinkle it with fruit.
Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla.
A handful of cranberries.
Mix it.
Defrost the puff pastry.
Roll out into a rectangular layer.
In the microwave, melt a piece of butter and put it on top of the dough, excluding the edges.
Lay out the filling.
Chop a handful of nuts.
Sprinkle on top.
Rolled into a roll.
Turn up the edges and prick the top with a fork.
You can bake on a baking sheet covered with parchment, but I shifted the roll into a “brick” shape measuring 27 cm by 9 cm.
Brush the top and sides with yolk, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
And some sugar.
Bake in a preheated 180* oven for 25 minutes. Let cool in the mold. It’s cold in here.
The strudel had a very tasty caramel crust. Traditionally, you can sprinkle with powder. Cut the strudel into portions. Serve pastries with tea or coffee.
