Scottish Multi-Grain Bread “Struan” Recipe

|

This bread in Scotland used to be baked on the eve of the feast of St. Michael, on September 29, when all the grain was removed. Bread was traditionally baked by the eldest daughter in the family from the grains of the fresh harvest. A mixture of different grains was used for “Struan”: rye, oats, barley, wheat. The grains were pre-ground and soaked in water or milk. Then they baked bread, and in the morning they carried it to the church to receive the blessing of the priest, who asked St. Michael for a plentiful harvest.

Rustic Wheat Bread “Pome” Recipe

I’m not a very experienced Baker. But when I saw this bread, I wanted to cook it. Expectations were met-the bread turned out very tasty, the crumb is airy and, at the same time, heavy due to the large number of seeds, the taste is so rich that you want another piece. We do not like airy, weightless bread, so this bread fully corresponded to our taste. The preparation is not at all troublesome. Trying it? It is a pity that the day was overcast and the photo did not convey all the beauty and crumb of bread.

Brazilian Cheese Bread Recipe

Brazilian cheese bread (Pao de Queijo) originated from African slaves who worked in the mining industry in Brazil. Common flour in that region was a rarity (and a luxury), so the local population began to work with cassava root. However, the product obtained from it is something between flour and starch (and closer to the second). There was no cheese then either, they did without it. But over time, life has improved, the number of products has increased and now Pao de Queijo is the business card of Brazil.

Focaccia-Art Recipe

So I got to the newfangled trend of this season – Focaccia art. The idea of painting a bread cake was loved and now you can meet a large number of people who want to try themselves as bakers – artists. I couldn’t resist the temptation to make my own picture on a bread cake after I saw the elegant cakes from yugai ludmila65. For the first time, I chose a simple picture with flowers from red onions and parsley.
