In culinary and household terms, sugar is called sucrose – an ordinary food sweetener that is obtained by processing sugar cane or sugar beet.
The white color of sugar is achieved during refining, but at the same time its individual crystals remain colorless. Many varieties of sugar contain different amounts of vegetable juice – molasses, which gives the crystals different shades of white color.
Sugar is an indispensable ingredient in many drinks, dishes, confectionery and bakery products. It is a familiar additive to coffee, cocoa and tea; confectionery creams, ice cream, icing and sweets cannot do without it. As a good preservative, white sugar is used in cooking jam, making jelly and other products from fruits and berries. Today, white sugar can be found almost everywhere, even where it is not expected to be found. For example, it may end up in low-fat diet yogurt or sausages, as well as in the manufacture of canned meat.
White sugar on sale is in the form of granulated sugar and refined sugar in pieces. Granulated sugar is packed in bags of different capacity, usually from one to fifty kilograms. Dense polyethylene bags are used, inside of which a film is additionally stretched to protect the contents from moisture and the spillage of crystals. Refined products are packed in cardboard boxes. The high hygroscopicity of white sugar causes certain requirements for its storage. The room where the product is located must be dry, protected from temperature fluctuations. Storing it at high humidity will lead to the formation of lumps. Sugar has the ability to absorb foreign odors, so you should not keep it near products with strong flavors.
White sugar is very high in calories – almost 400 kcal per one hundred grams of the product, and its composition consists entirely of carbohydrates. Therefore, when dieting, it is recommended to limit the use of this product in its pure form (for sweetening coffee or tea) and in the form of various sugar-containing drinks, cakes, cookies, etc.
I love cabbage soup and puree soups with sauerkraut, but this soup exceeded all expectations! So delicious that there are no words to describe it. Of course, you will have to tinker a little, but the taste will pay off all your efforts.
A very simple and very tasty recipe. We will not open America, but perhaps it will be useful to someone. The dish turns out to be very light and rich. Without meat additives, it turns out an excellent side dish. And the addition of any leftover meat is the main dish.
A wonderful side dish of a wonderful orange color that does not leave indifferent either children or adults. Easy to prepare and always a bright result! I tried this simple, but unexpectedly delicious side dish for the first time in a restaurant where everything is steamed. Carrots, which I respect so much, and they are delicious! As always, I was inspired by the idea, and rather to the car, that is, to the plate. About the second time it turned out no worse than the cooks…
I propose to prepare another unusual jam: tender, moderately sweet, with a subtle aroma of chocolate – it will appeal to all lovers of sweets. And since there are a lot of freaks this year, I recommend preparing.
Almost like mayonnaise. The Christmas fast is coming to an end. But Lent is not far off. On days when vegetable oil can be used, this sauce is very useful! The husband and children ask him to cook, even when the fast ends. I hope you will appreciate it.
If you are tired of the usual sandwiches for breakfast, you can try to cook vegetables or fruits in oatmeal breading. A very tasty, hearty and unusual dish. For cooking, you can use not only apples or beets, carrots and pears are perfect.
Light, pleasant and fresh fruit salad! Perfect for an evening snack when you don’t want to burden yourself and your stomach! A beautiful and very tasty salad.
How long ago I did something like this – the taste is amazing (although there were fewer ingredients in it), but I forgot about this salad! How good that I remembered about it today.
If you like Chinese cuisine, I suggest you cook juicy pork with eggplant in hot sauce. Peking meat with eggplant and rice is a great option for lunch or dinner. The preparation of this dish does not take much time, but the result can surprise even sophisticated gourmets.
