- Prepare all the necessary products. If the pearl barley has not previously been kept in water for 2-3 hours, then suggest cooking it this way. First, rinse the grits. Then fill with cold water and put on fire. After the contents of the pan boil for 1-2 minutes, drain the hot water and pour cold water again, add a little salt and cook until tender.
- While the meat is cooking, finely chop the onion, grate the carrots on a coarse grater, and cut the tomatoes into small cubes. In a frying pan, on which the meat is already beginning to brown quite a bit, first we send the onion, fry for a few minutes, then the carrots - also fry for a couple of minutes. Last of all, put the tomatoes and garlic, simmer until the slices of tomatoes become a little soft.
- Add hot (required! add water, cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 20 minutes. Then add sour cream and boil for 2-3 minutes. Add finely chopped herbs (any that you like - parsley, dill, cilantro) and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Then add the finished pearl barley, pre-washed with hot water, to the pan with the chicken-sour cream-vegetable mixture. Cook for a couple of minutes, cover the dishes with a lid and leave to languish for 5 minutes.
