- Put on a medium heat and cook until the cream is slightly thickened, stirring constantly with a whisk. To get a beautiful intense color, you can use turmeric or a drop of yellow gel dye. Still warm, the cream will be slightly liquid, but when cooled will reach the desired consistency. Let it cool completely at room temperature. The cream is quite versatile. You can stuff them with cookies, pies, spread on toast. It can be stored in the refrigerator for several days, covered with cling film in contact with the surface. You can also freeze the cream and then defrost it in the refrigerator as needed.
