Today we will prepare honey rings. This is a traditional Christmas pastry in Malta. This wonderful pastry is served throughout the Christmas holidays with a variety of drinks, it is served with both tea and milk.
To prepare the dough, I decided to use a combine harvester. In the bowl of the combine, sift flour and semolina, sugar and baking powder.
Melt the butter and combine with the yolk.
Dry and liquid components are combined, add milk and knead.
Form the dough into a ball. The finished dough is covered with food wrap and put in the refrigerator.
Remove the zest from the orange and lemon halves.
In a saucepan, combine the juice of half an orange and a lemon. Add the zest, honey, sugar, cocoa, water and put on fire.
When the filling begins to boil, gradually add semolina, and cook until you get a thick consistency. It is very important to mix all the time, so that the semolina does not burn and curl into lumps. Put the filling to cool.
The dough should be thinly rolled out in a rectangle and divided into 6 long strips.
Wrap with a roll.
Then we form rings. From above, we make incisions with a sharp knife. Bake at a temperature of 180*C 30 min.
I wish you a good Christmas mood and delicious pastries.
